Minutes of the Clondalkin Area Committee Meeting of 18th April 2012
Environment
Questions
Several constituents in Clondalkin have contacted me with complaints that Greyhound are overcharging for bins in that the weight they are charging for is often significantly heavier than the actual weight of the bin. Can the manager assist with this issue as Greyhound are refusing to communicate with the customer in relation to the problem. Alternately, who can assist customers with this type of issue?
A constituent has to dress a skin graft wound on her son daily. A large quantity of used dressings are produced. To ask the Manager if these can be put into the black bin or is there a requirement that they would be disposed of as medical waste?

That this Committee requests the Manager to provide a report on the provision of more bottle banks and recycling facilities in several areas in Clondalkin: Bawnogue, Rowlagh and Neilstown where a large demand arises.
That the Manager would consider altering the cleaning roster/route to compliment the work of the Tidy Towns group each Tuesday evening (eg. if TT group clean the village area on a Tuesday evening the Council staff could target an identified problem area on Wednesday)
That this Committee requests that the dreadful graffiti and paint be removed from bridge at Cappaghmore, Clondalkin
Parks
Questions
To ask the Manager what is the current situation with regard to the fisheries at Corkagh Park? Is it operational and being used by the public in significant numbers?
To ask the Manager for a resident in (address supplied), who is requesting that a bridge be built to provide access from his road across the river to Rathcoole Park. He says that there was always access via stepping stones etc at this location. He says residents of his road would like to enjoy the amenities of the park and be able to go there on foot. What are the possibilities of this?
To ask the Manager for a report on the proposed pedestrian access bridge(s) from Millrace, Saggart into Rathcoole Park and also enquire as to the possibility of a similar access from Springbank?
To ask the Manager to address the problem of cars driving through the Green area at Lindisfarne Green, Bawnouge. Can Parks install something on the green…railing/barrier to prevent cars driving through it and endangering childrens' lives. There is a huge wall on the Green so children cannot see the cars, nor can the cars see the children?

Roads
Questions
To ask the Manager when can residents in Monastery Gate expect the double yellow lines to be painted in their estate to deter dangerous parking at this location. Also, will the resident who originally requested these, whose contact details are in members rep from me, be contacted in relation to the location of lines?
To ask the Manager can the graffiti on roadsigns in Clondalkin, specifically near the big roundabouts at Bawnogue and the directional signs along the Fonthill Road between the Nangor Road, Boot Road and Old Nangor Road be removed? This is unsightly.
To ask the Manager if the slabbed path at Neilstown Shops can be repaired as it has been reported to me as being dangerous, in urgent need of repair and causing a hazard. Can this be addressed? The area in question is where taxis have been parking.
As the affected resident in St Brigids Park has reported an upsurge in obstructive parking in the cul de sac to ask the Manager if any consideration been given to the painting of double yellow lines all around the cul de sac as requested by the residents association?

To ask the Manager when the new traffic lights in Saggart will be turned on? Since the resurfacing works, cars are going through the cross roads at speed due to the removal of the ramp. It can be very dangerous at peak times to get across from the village to Castle Road as the traffic is travelling at speed.
