QUESTION NO. 17
QUESTION: Councillor B. Bonner
To ask the Manager present a report on the remedial works in the Lealand and Woodford areas of Clondalkin to address the flooding seen last winter. Are the works complete and did they stand up to the heavy rain in late April?
REPLY:
The remedial works at Lealand Drive have been completed since mid April 2012 when the surface water system was diverted around the back of the houses, 15 to 33 odd, to a new outlet on Bawnogue Road. The new system seems to have coped well with the heavy rains in late April with no reports of flooding in the area. Similarly all the work put into cleaning and flushing the sewerage network and removing debris from the grit traps in the vicinity of Woodford Downs seems to have paid off as no flooding was reported from this area either. Sandbags were delivered to this area in late April during the heavy rains as a precautionary measure only.
