That this Committee requests the Manager to provide a report on the provision of more bottle banks and recycling facilities in several areas in Clondalkin:  Bawnogue, Rowlagh and Neilstown where a large demand arises. 

REPORT:

One of the goals of the Council's Bring Bank Strategy is a goal to create equity of access to waste management facilities and services across the county. The main objectives in achieving this goal is the retention and upgrading of existing sites, maintenance and servicing of existing and new sites and expanding the bring bank network in areas of deficit. The three areas listed above are primarily residential areas.

The criteria for siting recycling facilities are as follows:

Each of the areas will be examined to identify possible locations for the installation of recycling units and the development of identified sites will be subject to resources available.  The textile recycling site at Bawnogue Enterprise and Community Centre is currently being considered for expansion to include glass recycling receptacles.
