MOTION NO. 9
MOTION: Councillor G. Kenny
That the Manager looks into the possibility of lowering the grass mounds that are on the Liffey Valley Roundabout/Shancastle Drive. There has been a number of stone throwing incidents in the past few months mainly targeting Dublin Bus Buses.
REPORT:
It appears that the mounds were originally constructed to shelter the nearby houses. The land is owned by the Council however the grass is cut by contractors working for the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre and the Parks Department. The mounds are well grassed, well maintained and there are no sources for stones at this location. Any stone throwing that occurs at this location is as a result of stones that are carried into the area. The area suffers from fly tipping which may also give rise to the presence of stones.
Following discussions with Parks Dept. it is not intended to remove the mounds.
