QUESTION NO. 4
QUESTION: Councillor B. Bonner
To ask the Manager for a resident in (address supplied), who is requesting that a bridge be built to provide access from his road across the river to Rathcoole Park. He says that there was always access via stepping stones etc at this location. He says residents of his road would like to enjoy the amenities of the park and be able to go there on foot. What are the possibilities of this?
REPLY:
A number of years ago, the County Council brought forward a proposal for a bridge across the Camac River, linking Springbank Estate to Rathcoole Park. The proposal was discussed with local residents in the area who raised considerable concerns that a bridge would give rise to serious problems relating to loitering and anti-social activity in the vicinity of the bridge. Given the level of opposition to the bridge proposal, it was decided not to pursue the matter further.
The Council is willing to discuss the proposal again with representatives of local residents in the area to establish the level of interest or otherwise, in the provision of a pedestrian bridge at this location.
