To ask the Chief Executive, following the recent public meeting arranged by South Dublin County Council and the new Local Community Safety Partnership in relation to the new community safety structures replacing the former Joint Policing Committee framework, whether consideration will be given to holding a similar public meeting within the Lucan area to ensure greater accessibility and participation for residents living within the north/western side of the County who may find it difficult to travel to Tallaght to attend such events. And further, whether the Council and Local Community Safety Partnership would consider a more localised community engagement approach across different parts of the County as the new structures and strategies are developed and rolled out.

That this Area Committee calls on the Chief Executive to repair the cable fault between Street Light 7 and Street Light 8 on Elderwood Road in Palmerstown, in order to prevent constant tripping and restore full functionality to the street lighting.

Mot (2)
Submitted by:
Councillor V. Casserly
Responsibility:

To call on the manager for an update on repainting of road markings in Johnsbridge Estate. This has been requested and passed as a motion previously but with no update of works to be completed.

Mot (3)
Submitted by:
Councillor L. O'Toole
Responsibility:
John Hegarty

That this Area Committee requests the Chief Executive to provide an update regarding the longstanding issue of private vehicles parking within the bus lane corridor extending from the Castle Gate area towards the Adamstown Link Road and to outline what measures, engagement, communications strategy or enforcement planning has been undertaken or is proposed in advance of any future expansion or introduction of additional bus services within the Adamstown area. And further, having regard to the fact that sections of this bus lane have remained largely unused for public transport purposes for many years, during which time significant numbers of local residents have come to rely upon the area for informal parking due to ongoing parking pressures within Adamstown to ask how the Council intends to manage any future transition away from such usage in a manner that minimises conflict with residents while facilitating the delivery of enhanced public transport infrastructure and bus connectivity within the wider Adamstown area.

Mot (4)
Submitted by:
Councillor T. McDonald
Responsibility:
Gary Walsh

That this Area Committee calls on the Chief Executive to arrange for the urgent cutting back and maintenance of the overgrown hedging on Ballyowen Lane between Ballyowen Hall and Droim na Coille, as the current condition has rendered the footpath impassable, and to restore the pathway to a safe and accessible condition as soon as possible.

And further, to clarify whether the current parking arrangements align with the overall vision and planning objectives envisaged by South Dublin County Council for the Adamstown Strategic Development Zone, particularly having regard to the limited on-street parking provision within the wider area, the role of The Crossings as a key town centre and transport hub and the need to maintain accessible local services and amenities for all members of the community.

To call on the Manager to write to the owners of the Crossings, Adamstown, to abolish the newly introduced parking fee that previously was 90 minutes free. This retrograde step will impact the main anchor tenants of Aldi and Tesco, but disproportionately affect the smaller businesses in the centre, and most egregiously of all, people attending the HSE Primary Care Centre across the road that has zero associated parking spaces.
