QUESTION: Councillor H. Farrell

To ask the Chief Executive if a traffic survey has been carried out in relation to localised congestion on Kennelsfort Road and Coldcut Road due to vehicles queuing to turn right at the Silver Granite onto Wheatfield Road; and if a statement can be made on the matter.

REPLY:

It is noted that traffic control measures at this location are limited, with a pedestrian crossing provided on Kennelsfort Road only, and no signal control on the Wheatfield Road arm of the junction.

Given concerns regarding queuing and potential congestion on Kennelsfort Road and on adjacent roads, it is recommended that a traffic survey be carried out to assess traffic volumes, turning movements, and the operational performance of the junction. The findings of such a survey would inform any future decisions regarding possible junction improvements or traffic management measures.

Any proposed works arising from the traffic survey would be considered by the Council and would be subject to the availability of funding and resources.
