QUESTION NO.7

QUESTION: Councillor L. O'Toole

To ask the Chief Executive to provide a detailed update regarding the proposed works currently planned in the Castle Gate / Adamstown area in relation to the large mature tree and adjoining footpath infrastructure, including a breakdown of the nature and extent of the works proposed, the current stage of the project and how the Council intends to complete the necessary footpath repairs while protecting and retaining the tree in situ. And further, given the significant local concern regarding the future of the tree to ask that elected members and the local community be notified well in advance of any proposed changes to its status, removal or substantial alteration arising from the works process.

REPLY:

Trees are currently being surveyed by an arborist on behalf of Public Realm. This will identify what trees may be retained as part of these works.

The current proposal is for footpath works to commence in late Q3 due to the nesting season.

We'll liaise with Cllrs closer to the works date when exact works are known
