MOTION: Councillor T. McDonald
That this Area Committee calls on the Chief Executive to repair the cable fault between Street Light 7 and Street Light 8 on Elderwood Road in Palmerstown, in order to prevent constant tripping and restore full functionality to the street lighting.
REPORT:
Elderwood Road was recently upgraded to LED as part of the Woodfarm Acres Programmed Upgrade with ESBN.
Subsequent to this, technical issues have been identified at P6 and P7.
About 70% of our upgrade programme consists of single poles that are directly fed off an ESBN supply pillar. ESBN are requested to attend on site with us to unbundle poles like this from their minipillar. Once that is done, we can proceed with the LED Upgrade.
However, the remaining 30% of our poles are fed in a 'daisy chain' from the poles described above. We don't need ESBN to unbundle these but we do have to fit a device in the second daisy-chained pole to make it safe.
At Elderwood, P7 is supplied from P6 in this manned and the safety device in P7 keeps tripping. This means that there is a residual fault previously undetected in the underground cabling between P6 and P7 and this will now need to be replaced.
The civil works here will require a the granting of a road opening licence and are quite extensive. We hope to have a permanent solution to this problem in place by the end of July at the latest.
