MOTION: Councillor C. Brady
Cathaoirleach's Business
That this Area Committee calls on the Chief Executive to consider the development of a local event or series of events in Lucan to coincide with the annual Liffey Descent, making use of the upgraded Liffey Weir and surrounding public realm. This would provide an opportunity to animate the area, support local business, community activity, and maximise the benefit of recent investment in the public space.
REPORT:
It is acknowledged that the Liffey Descent presents a valuable opportunity to promote Lucan as a vibrant destination, while supporting local businesses, enhancing community engagement and maximising the benefit of recent public realm investment in the area.
Cross-departmental discussions will be undertaken to explore the feasibility, scope, and potential programming of such an initiative. Consideration will be given to logistical requirements, resource implications, stakeholder engagement and alignment with existing events and strategies. The outcome of these discussions will inform any future proposals regarding the development of events associated with the Liffey Descent in Lucan. The Area Committee will be kept informed of progress in due course.
