That this Committee, noting that it is more than seven years since the former McHugh's Shopping Arcade on St James' Road was burnt down, demands immediate remedial action on the derelict site, including the removal of all graffiti and dumped items both on and in the vicinity of the site, the removal of the significant pest problem, and the replacement of the hoarding with a more secure and visually appealing border. The work will be carried out or contracted at the earliest opportunity by South Dublin County Council with a requirement on the developer to pay, as under Derelict Sites legislation.

That this Committee supports immediate remedial works to reinstate the grass verges on either side of the entrance to St. Brendan's Crescent from St. James' Road, Greenhills (north-eastern end), given the tireless work done at the site by both residents and Council workers over many years. Such remedial works will include measures to stop parking on these verges given that they have been rendered as quagmires in recent months from such parking.

That this Committee, noting the state of disrepair of many of the footpaths in the Greenhills and Walkinstown area of Dublin 12, the mobility difficulties of many of the elderly population in the area, and the fact that none of these roads have been included in the current Footpath Repair Programme despite a statement that older suburbs would be prioritised, requests an immediate report on all footpaths in this area and an ensuing schedule of repair for these footpaths to be presented to the next meeting of this Committee.
