QUESTION NO. 3

QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney

"To ask the Manager for an update on the Burmah Garage site, Wellington Lane, particularly with regard to its status as a derelict site, and to make a statement on the matter?"

REPLY:

Following an on site meeting between Council Officials and the Members of the Tallaght Area Committee, it was agreed to have the site inspected again under the Derelict Sites Act.  The Area Engineer inspected the site on 16th June, 2010 and deemed the site to be derelict.  A Section 11 Notice was issued to the registered owners outlining the following works to be carried out:

·        Demolish and remove superstructure

·        Ensure site is secure

·        Remove rubbish

·        Removal of side stub wall to prevent access and replace hoarding

The site will be re-inspected following the expiry of the Notice and if the works outlined in the Notice have not been completed by that date, the site may be placed on the Derelict Sites Register pursuant to Section 8 of the Act, and be subject to an annual levy.
