QUESTION: Councillor C. Brophy

"To ask the Manager to arrange for a clean up to take place in Bancroft Park?"

REPLY:

Bancroft Park is cleaned of litter and other debris on a regular basis and, on a recent inspection, was found to be reasonably clean. However, it was noted that the stream was quite littered and requires attention. 

It is regretable that this park, and other parks and open spaces around the county, are littered on a ongoing basis due to the uncaring attitude of a minority of people. Staff time and resources, that should be dedicated to the enhancement of our parks, are routinely diverted to the removal and disposal of this material. 

It is intended to clean the stream as part of a general cleanup of the park which is scheduled take place within the next month.
