QUESTION NO. 12

QUESTION: Councillor B. Lawlor

"To ask the Manager to inspect the public lighting in Monalea estate with a view to increasing the strength of the light?"

REPLY:

Monalea comprises 3 No. distinct areas:  Monalea Grove, Monalea Park and Monalea Wood.  Collectively, there are 63 No. lighting columns with 62No. 55W SOX lanterns and 1 No. 90W SOX.  The spacing between columns, in the main, conforms to standard lighting design and is similar to other estates.  However, the intrusion of trees on lighting levels is a serious problems in certain areas within Monalea.  The removal of certain trees would, in some cases, dramatically improve lighting levels.  Due to the size of Monalea, Public Lighting would welcome information concerning  where specific  attention is deemed necessary and subsequently interact with the interested stakeholders.
