QUESTION NO. 27
QUESTION: Councillor B. Lawlor
"To ask the Manager to establish signage on the pedestrian bridge at Dodder Weir?"
REPLY:
The provision of information boards in the Dodder Valley Park is being investigated. It is considered desirable to have signs which convey information to park visitors on the extent and history of the Dodder River and Valley, the range of activities that are possible including walking, field sports and fishing, the remarkable biodiversity that is present, links to the boundaries of the adjoining counties - Dún Laoghaire Rathdown, Dublin City and Wicklow as well as information about specific features of the park such as the weir. The provision of signage would be subject to the availablity of the necessary resources.
It should also be noted that where information signage is provided, it is unfortunately, often subjected to repeated vandalism, grafitti and general defacement. Consideration of these issues will form part of the design brief for the development of proposals for signage for the park.
