QUESTION NO. 33

QUESTION: Councillor E. Walsh 2009

"To ask the Manager to ensure that the grass cutting is properly done in future in the Hillsbrook/ Muckross area of Perrystown dublin 12; a number of residents has expressed annoyance as to how it has been cut recently?"

REPLY:

The public open spaces in this area are included in the Parks Department's regular grass cutting schedule and grassed areas are being cut as frequently as possible within the capacity of current resources available.  The frequency of cutting at present ranges from 13 to 15 days between cuts, depending on a range of factors which can impinge on the grass-cutting programme during the season. These factors include weather and ground conditions, machinery breakdown, repair and servicing, health & safety issues, training and insurance, annual leave and leave due to illness, and the short term redeployment of staff to other specific works.

Local staff will be addressing the particular problems in this estate as soon as possible.
