Motions
That the Chief Executive intervenes to halt the dismantling of EV chargers at kerbside locations that require a cable from a household under footpaths to a charging point at a parking space, sets up an inspection process whereby currently safe installations can apply for retrospective planning permission, to ensure that developers do not have to remove such safe connections already in situ to conclude a taking in charge process, by means of amendment or other legal mechanisms; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
That this Council calls on the Chief Executive to incorporate provision within planning standards for the parking of small commercial vehicles, such as vans up to two tonnes, within residential developments, in recognition of current working practices
That this Council requests the Chief Executive to install sunscreen dispensers in each park in South Dublin County
That this Council requests the Chief Executive to ensure that all roads in the County are inspected at least twice yearly for misaligned or obscured signs, missing street name signs, and hedges encroaching on footpaths.
That this council calls on the Minister for Social Protection to look at increasing the top up payment to Community Employment (CE) scheme workers to a minimum of €50, and broadening the eligibility criteria to access CE schemes to encourage uptake and provide workers for community services.
That the elected members of this council express their solidarity with the workers at the National Ambulance Service who have been on strike due to the failure of the HSE to implement a 2020 report on improved pay scales reflecting the increased workload and responsibilities of frontline workers, and that a letter be issued to the Minister for Health and the HSE calling on them to immediately implement the recommendations of the report.
That this Council calls on the Government to abolish the Universal Social Charge (USC) in Budget 2027 recognising that it was introduced as a temporary emergency measure during the financial crisis and that workers and families continue to face significant cost-of-living pressures.
