Motions
Mayors Business
That this Council calls on the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to urgently address the regulation of the domestic waste collection market and to initiate a national waiver scheme.
Mayors Business
That this Council further discusses the issue of the NPPR charges and the collection of payments and penalties. Further that this Council makes representation to the Minister and the wider Cabinet about the implications of such charges incurred by families who, owing to financial pressure, leave their principal private residence and continue to maintain the mortgage on their property. This Council believes that a system of exemptions from the NPPR charge should be introduced where it may lead to avoidance of mortgage defaults, applications for family/rent supplement and other hardship cases.
That this Council condemn Greyhound Waste Services for the disregard and disrespect shown to Elected Reps and the Public by their non-attendance at the scheduled meeeting of 26th Jan last. That they are again requested to attend this Chamber to respond to members serious concerns re the provision of a competent Waste Service in this County
That this council writes to the Minister of Justice, requesting that his office undertakes to do a feasibility study on having privately run prisons.
That this Council seeks to put in place a regulatory framework for the times and days permitted for the collection of waste in the county, given the difficulties arising in the multiplicity of waste collections since the Council's service was privatised. That this framework will govern all waste collection companies operating in South Dublin County and will be brought for agreement to a monthly meeting of the Council no later than May 2012.
That this council endorses both the government’s new ‘Action Plan on Jobs’ and ‘Pathways to Work’ and requests the Manager to present an implementation plan with respect to those actions which apply, or could potentially apply to our county and to our local authority; including establishment of a Local Enterprise Office, the doubling of work placement opportunities and support for specific economic growth sectors.
Go n-iarrann an Chomhairle Contae seo ar údarás um Chaighdeáin Náisiúnta na héireann go ndéanfaidh an túdarás sin a chinntiú go bhfuil gach solathraí diúscairt dramhaíola sa Chontae ag comhlíonadh a ndualgais maidir le meácháin agus tomhais a dtrucail diúscairt dramhaíola nuair a mbíonn méid agus luach dramhaíola Á ríomh acu.
That this County Council asks the National Standards Authority of Ireland that that Authority ensures that every waste disposal provider in the County fulfils their obligations with regard to the weights and measures of their waste disposal trucks when calculating the weight and value of the waste.
That this Council provide with the aid of a report a discussion on the law which allows architects and engineers acting on behalf of developers to certify works completed under the conditions of planning permissions and that instead that all such inspections and certification with regard to both planning conditions and regulations ought to fall under the auspices of the Local Authority’s Planning Department which issued that planning. Assuming the support of Members that the Manager on behalf of this Council write to the Minister for the Environment seeking that he bring the necessary legislation allowing this change and thereby avoiding any future catastrophes similar to those experienced by the Residents of Priory Hall and Belmayne.
That the Manager present a comprehensive report (including statistics and outcomes) on the 'Fix Your Streets' website with particular reference to the outcomes to the 396 requests submitted in January 2012
To congratulate the Manager on the successful Tidy Towns Event held in Tallaght Stadium recently.
Noting the Report on Motion No.6 at the Organization, Procedure and Finance Committee meeting of 22nd September 2011, and the Reply to to Question No.4 at the O,P and F meeting of 24th November 2011, which provided a Briefing on the collaboration between the Institute of Technology Tallaght and Nanjing University of Technology, China this Council now requests the Manager to explore, with the support of the the Institute of Technology Tallaght, and in the context of the Manager's Sustaining Business Initiative, and in collaboration with South Dublin Chamber of Commerce, opportunities for business, cultural and related interaction with the municipal authority and business organizations in the City of Nanjing, in particular that part of the city in which NJUT is located. Note that this proposal is not made in the context of the Council's policy on Twinning.
In light of An Bord Pleanala's decision to refuse planning permission for the development of a National Childrens Hospital at the Mater site, that this Council re-commit itself to support the Tallaght Hospital site as the ideal and obivious location
That the Manager provide a detailed report on the possibility of facilitating a monthly dry recyclable waste collection in each local electoral area. This service would provide local residents with the opportunity to drop off recyclables for free and this waste could be recycled in the Ballymount facility. This service would be accessible to those who cannot travel to Ballymount regularly and those who are not currently availing of curb-side collection services provided by private companies and would be in-line with Government policy on the issue.
That this council calls on the Manager to actively engage with Kildare County Council, NAMA and the relevant government departments to examine if lands at Weston Airport can be acquired into public ownership; noting that it would be grossly unjust for a private party to gain ownership of this land for a price which represents only a small fraction of the costs incurred by the taxpayer in significantly writing-down the value of loans held against this land.
That this Council supports the roll-out of publicly-accessible, free Wi-fi broadband to more Council-run facilities in the SDCC area, including, but not limited to, parks and community facilities.
That this Council agrees that the national flag ought to fly on all municipal buildings of significance in the county
