MOTION NO. 11
MOTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
Noting the Report on Motion No.6 at the Organization, Procedure and Finance Committee meeting of 22nd September 2011, and the Reply to to Question No.4 at the O,P and F meeting of 24th November 2011, which provided a Briefing on the collaboration between the Institute of Technology Tallaght and Nanjing University of Technology, China this Council now requests the Manager to explore, with the support of the the Institute of Technology Tallaght, and in the context of the Manager's Sustaining Business Initiative, and in collaboration with South Dublin Chamber of Commerce, opportunities for business, cultural and related interaction with the municipal authority and business organizations in the City of Nanjing, in particular that part of the city in which NJUT is located. Note that this proposal is not made in the context of the Council's policy on Twinning.
REPORT:
It is recommended that the proposal in the Motion is best considered in the context of the Economic Sub group of the County Development Board on which IT Tallaght, the Chamber and the Council are represented. Mr Peter Byrne, CEO, South Dublin Chamber, chairs the group.
A report from the group following that discussion can be considered by the CDB/Economic Development SPC.
This approach is acceptable to Mr Byrne as Chair and if agreed by the members the matter will be included on the sub-group agenda.
