QUESTION NO. 2

QUESTION: Councillor J. Hannon

To ask the Manager to state the number of planning applications, the number granted & refused, the number appealed to An Bord Pleanala and the outcome in each case, in respect of each of the following rural areas of the County, since the commencement of the current Co Development Plan:

Bohernabreena/Glenasmole/Ballinascorney

Brittas

Saggart/Rathcoole

Newcastle?

REPLY:

The breakdown in applications is as follows:

Bohernabreena

10 valid applications have been received since October 2010 for this area.

Of these 10 applications, 2 were Granted Planning Permission, 6 were Refused Planning Permission, and 2 are still under consideration.

The Council's Decision was appealed to An Bord Pleanala in 4 cases.  In two instances,  the Council’s decision to refuse permission was overturned by An Bord Pleanala.  In one appeal of the Council’s decision to grant permission was upheld, and in another appeal against the Council’s decision to refuse permission, the Council's decision was also upheld.

Glenasmole

 4 valid applications received since October 2010.

Three of these applications have resulted in a Grant of Planning Permission, with one application still under consideration. 

Ballinascorney

 2 valid applications received, both of which were Granted Planning Permission.

Brittas

7 valid applications received, with 6 being Granted Planning Permission and 1 still under consideration.

Saggart

9 valid applications received since October 2010. 

6 have been Granted Planning Permission, 3 have been Refused Planning Permission, and in the case of the 1 decision to Refuse Planning Permission that was appealed to An Bord Pleanala, the Council's decision was upheld.

Rathcoole

21 valid applications received.
