MOTION: Councillor M. Devine

In light of An Bord Pleanala's decision to refuse planning permission for the development of a National Childrens Hospital at the Mater site, that this Council re-commit itself to support the Tallaght Hospital site as the ideal and obivious location

REPORT:

Whilst noting that the decision on the site for the National Childrens Hospital is clearly a matter for Government South Dublin County Council has always supported, and will continue to support, the selection of Tallaght as the site for the National Childrens Hospital due to :

• Colocation with existing Tallaght Hospital.
• Availability of publically controlled serviced site.
• Eccellent access to Tallaght locally, regionally and nationally by vehicular and public tranport.
• Developed planned Town Centre completed and available to deliver all the supports necessary including residential, retail and commercial services.
• As with previous large developments in the County SDCC will commit a dedicated cross departmental/disciplinary team to support process.
