MEETING OF SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

Monday, March 12, 2012

QUESTION NO. 1

QUESTION: Councillor M. Devine

To ask the Manager to provide a draft proposed schedule of works for cutting of grass on all verges including local and national roads?

REPLY:

In relation to the National Roads, the allocation for Ordinary Maintenance (which includes grass cutting) in 2012 is reduced from €76,765 to €69,051. The majority of grass cutting on National Routes in 2011 was carried out with additional funding received for the Royal and American Presidential visits.

Most of the allocation for National Routes in the current year will be needed for safety issues so it is not possible at this stage to schedule grass cutting until later in the year when a more accurate account of the available funding will be available. The Road Works Programme which includes grass cutting on local and regional roads will be presented to the Area Committee Meetings this month. In this regard the Roads Dept. are liaising with the Parks Dept. to produce and co-ordinate a schedule for grass cutting.
