That the Manager, in the light of a serious problem with littering in the Greenfort Gardens area presents a report on the possibility of installing a cctv camera at this location? Perhaps the old coffee shop would be a suitable location.

That this Committee agrees to a complete poster ban in Clondalkin Village and requests that SDCC writes to all relevant groups (business, sporting, political, etc) informing them of this decision and asking for their co-operation.

Boundary to be determined but a suggestion would be not inside N7 - Fonthill Road - M50 and New Nangor Road.

That the Manager would present a report on the hugely successful spooky walk at Corkagh Park on Saturday 29th of October.  In the light of the huge crowds and long wait would it be possible to hold this event over two nights next Hallowe'en?  It appears that the event was so good it was hugely over subscribed.  On a related matter, what is the current status of the Farmer's Market in Corkagh Park?

Roads

Questions

Qu (6)
Submitted by:
Councillor B. Bonner
Responsibility:
John McLoughlin

The Liffey Valley Shopping Centre is inaccessible to pedestrians, particularly if they are accessing the shopping centre from the Coldcut Road.  Once a walker passes B&Q heading towards Marks & Spencer's there is no footpath.  Considering the Council's supposed support for the initiative encouraging people to walk or cycle on short journeys they must find the inaccessibility for pedestrians at this location unacceptable.  If so, what action can the Manager take in this regard?

Qu (7)
Submitted by:
Councillor B. Bonner
Responsibility:
Philip Murphy

To ask the Manager to present a report on the issue of a shopkeeper trading on the street in front of his shop at Main Street, Clondalkin.  I am aware that this issue has been raised at area committee meetings before.  What action can be taken in this regard and what action has been taken.  Many residents and a number of residents groups have raised this issue with me.  On a related matter, a resident has complained that the interior of the shop is unsafe as it is so jam packed with goods it is hard to get around it.  Is there any regulation on this kind of matter.

Qu (8)

Councillor M. McDonagh

To ask the Manager to provide a pedestrian safety barrier between the traffic lights at the corner of the Fonthill Road and Convent Road (entrance to St. Brigid's side)?

To ask the Manager to replace the (twice) promised missing St. Patrick's Avenue road sign, having waited patiently for the sign for the last 9 months? The sign was removed almost 1 year ago and has still not arrived, I will be available to show staff where sign is to be placed.

That the Manager present an updated report on providing a school warden for St. Mary's National School, Saggart, Co Dublin.  Is there any funding there for this?

Mot (8)
Submitted by:
Councillor T. Delaney

That this Committee strongly objects to the continuing display of merchandise and transacting on the public pavement on Main Street.  Furthermore despite this issue being raised several times over the past few years by Members we are disappointed at the perceived lack of action and urgency in addressing the problem and request that it is sorted in the short term.

Development & Water Services

Questions

Qu (10)
Submitted by:
Councillor B. Bonner
Responsibility:
Dermot Finch

To ask the Manager's opinion on the matter that the residents at 17 and 18 Boot Road are worried because in spite of the fact that work has only recently been done on the drains outside their houses they were still affected by flooding last Monday, 24th of October?  Some of the residents on the road contend that the underground pipes are not sufficiently big to take the water volumes.

Qu (11)
Submitted by:
Councillor T. Delaney
Responsibility:
John Browne

To ask the Manager that the landowners of the old 'ESSO' service station and also the 'Lexington' sites on Monastery Road are contacted regarding their properties condition and presentation as they are having a significant negative visual impact. We ask that responsibility is taken by all parties and immediate action is taken to improve these sites.

Qu (12)

Councillor M. McDonagh

To ask the Manager for a report into the causes of flooding in nos 15 to 33 Lealand Drive (odd nos only) on Monday 24th October and to establish whether the level of flooding experienced was caused by inadequate drainage provision and to recommend remedial action on the drainage system to prevent future floods?

That the Manager would present a report on the recent flooding at Lealand Drive, Clondalkin.  What is the history in relation to flooding at this location? While the houses that are flooded have steep driveways down to their houses it seems that the water came in from the back of the houses.  How is this explained? What plan can be put in place to address the problems that obviously exist here in relation to drainage and sewage.

Mot (12)
Submitted by:
Councillor T. Ridge
Responsibility:
John Browne

That the Manager reports on 1A, St Patrick's Road, Clondalkin, in view of the long delay in selling this house, the upper window is broken and is attracting unwanted attention. This matter can be resolved legally in view of the stalemate situation.

Mot (13)
Submitted by:
Councillor B. Bonner
Responsibility:
Dermot Finch

That the Manager would present a report on the recent flooding in the Woodford / Monksfield area of Clondalkin focusing on the following aspects:-

1. Response of Council on the night.  Residents feel this was inadequate though they do accept that there was a countywide emergency on the night in question.

2. Clean up of the roads, houses and gardens that were inundated with a mixture of flood water and sewage.  Residents feel that not enough was done in this regard and that there is a real health and safety issue here.

3. What is the history of flooding at these locations?  Is it true that the drainage system installed by the builders has never been adequate and that a new sewer was installed to which the houses at Woodford Downs have not been connected?

4. What can be done to address the problems at this location and can a meeting be held with residents to explain what can be done?

Mot (14)
Submitted by:
Councillor B. Bonner
Responsibility:
Dermot Finch

That the Manager would present a report on the current status of the pipe replacement programme at Rowlagh Crescent, Clondalkin.  In the light of the fact that residents were left without water for prolonged periods during last year's snow, what action has been taken to ensure that the same doesn't happen again.  If the money is not there to proceed, can an application be made to central government to fund this most necessary work.

Mot (17)

Councillor G. Kenny
Responsibility:

That this Area Committee along with Dublin City Council look into the possibility of allowing the barrier gates which line the new Grand Canal pathway to be open on a pilot basis at certain times.  I would propose that the barrier gates be opened at a peak time on a pilot basis for one month, for example; opening the gates from 7AM to 9AM.

That the Manager presents a report on the regulation of shopfronts in Clondalkin Village. There is particular concern about a garish pink shopfront on Main Street and a horrible digital sign on a phone repair shop in the same street.  These are an affront to the historic village centre and would not be tolerated elsewhere.  Is there any regulation of shopfronts?

During a recent canvass of the Boot Road and Common's Road, a number of residents expressed their unhappiness at the fact that they are now required to vote in Sruleen School when they have always voted in St. Joseph's Boys School.  They are most unhappy about this.  To ask the Manager, how can they get this decision reversed?

Similarly, many residents of Cappaghmore are very unhappy at having to go to Balgaddy School to vote.  Many of the residents are elderly with no transport.  Balgaddy is most inaccessible for them and they pass the much closer St. Peter Apostle School on the way.  Their natural polling centre would be Clonburris School which is in fact their parish centre.  Balgaddy may as well be the other side of the world with no public transport etc.
