QUESTION NO. 6

QUESTION: Councillor B. Bonner

The Liffey Valley Shopping Centre is inaccessible to pedestrians, particularly if they are accessing the shopping centre from the Coldcut Road.  Once a walker passes B&Q heading towards Marks & Spencer's there is no footpath.  Considering the Council's supposed support for the initiative encouraging people to walk or cycle on short journeys they must find the inaccessibility for pedestrians at this location unacceptable.  If so, what action can the Manager take in this regard?

REPLY:

This section of the internal road layout of Liffey Valley is not in the charge of SDCC.  It should be noted that only the main dual carriageway and the through route to Coldcut Road is in the charge of the Council. The matter will be referred to the Planning Department to identify any pedestrian facilities that may have been included in the Planning Permission.
