MOTION: Councillor B. Bonner

That the Manager could present an up to date report on works that are planned for the upgrade of the N81.  When is the funding likely to be available to proceed with this project.

REPORT

At present the public consultation stage for the emerging preferred route of the N81 is underway. The duration of the public consultation has been extended to 21st November 2011 and newspaper notifications in this regard have been placed. This emerging preferred route resulted from stage 1 route corridor options public consultation in November 2010 and stage 2 route selection corridor public consultation in July 2011.  

Funding has been provided to complete the preferred route stage only. This is stage 2 of the process under the National Roads Authority guidelines.
