QUESTION NO. 10

QUESTION: Councillor B. Bonner

To ask the Manager's opinion on the matter that the residents at 17 and 18 Boot Road are worried because in spite of the fact that work has only recently been done on the drains outside their houses they were still affected by flooding last Monday, 24th of October?  Some of the residents on the road contend that the underground pipes are not sufficiently big to take the water volumes.

REPLY:

It is the understanding of the Drainage Section that neither No. 17 or 18 Boot Road were flooded but had a near miss. Recently the Roads Section or its Contractor replaced and raised the footpath outside these two houses and installed two new gullys outside both houses and four new gullys on the road opposite. The size of the surface water sewer from these houses down to the traffic lights on the Fonthill Road would seem to be adequate but the Drainage Section will arrange to have this surface water sewer flushed and cleaned shortly.
