Questions
To ask the Manager to write to the ESB to request details of the ESB's scheduled programme of works, short, medium and long term, for the removal of overhead electricity cabling in our villages, housing estates and open spaces, and for relevant details of the ESB's policy on overhead electricity cabling?
To ask the Manager to report in detail on the results of the footpath survey for South Dublin as undertaken in the first half of 2007?
To ask the Manager to report on the progress of the current Traffic Calming Programme for South Dublin. Would the Manager specifically report on the delays in agreeing the remaining schedules in each area in South Dublin. Would the Manager also report on what research has taken/is taking place to source possible alternatives to the traditional ramp as being the main feature of traffic calming schemes?
To ask the Manager to report on ways in which the Special Amenity Area Order applicable to the Liffey Valley, can be extended?
To ask the Manager, what efforts have been or are being made to ensure the thousands of people who lost their franchise in the general election 2007 as a result of the review of the electoral register are returned back on the register and how does the Manager explain the disproportionate large numbers deleted from the register in the RAPID areas of the County where arguably there is a greater need for proper representation?
To ask the Manager for details regarding the appointment of a Bio-diversity Officer and a Wildlife Officer for South Dublin?

Motions
That this Council honour and complete the contract between South Dublin County Council and the Dublin County Board (GAA), which was agreed and paid for by the Dublin County Board in 1995, this means to transfer to the Dublin County Board the deeds and the lands which are legally theirs.
That the Manager outline Council's attitude and approach to:
- repairs and improvements carried out privately to Local Authority Homes
- specifically with regard to reimbursement or deduction from price on purchase.
That this Council discuss with the aid of a report the lead levels in(a) the air (b) lead water pipes (c) fumes from leaded petrol, (d) paints with lead content if used or banned in planning ? (e) lead handling industries in the County. To undertake this with a view to reducing the exposure to lead in the County -particularly to children as the neurotoxic effect is both cumulative and delayed, and to state what action could be undertaken.
That the Manager consider an increase in grass cutting of grass verges as many of these are left unattended to as many of the old people are unable to provide this service.
That the Manager brings forward a report on the Traffic Monitoring carried out by this Council to include purpose and role within the County and the greater Dublin Area, cost p/a, location of monitoring equipment, outcome, effect on traffic flow/management to date, and that a full discussion take place on this important service including exploring ways in which the public road and public transport users can become more aware of and involved in the system.
That this Council calls for funds to be allocated in the forthcoming estimates for a feasibility study for the establishment of a County Museum and that this Council supports the establishment of a County Museum.
That this Council acknowledges the benefit of Visual Design Statements as being valuable in collating the views of the local community in terms of the future planning aspirations of the village or area involved, and would the Manager report on how such a Visual Design Statement will influence future planning decisions in that village or area.
That this Council re-affirms its commitment to promoting safe cycling in the County, compliments the Manager and the Roads Department on the ongoing programme of installing cycling lanes, recognises that a deterrent to the use of bicycles is the unavailability of secure storage/parking in public places such as shopping centres, and requests the Manager to explore the possibility of requiring Planning Applications for Shopping Centres to include provision for a certain number of secure cycle parking areas including bicycle lockers and locked covered bicycle sheds.
That the Council ensure that the Affordable Housing policy is just and fair in its treatment of individuals.
That this Council agrees to incorporate durable exercise facilities for adults/elderly at various locations throughout the County, a motion in my name on this subject was agreed in 2005 and to ask if money for this project could be included in this year's budget? (Note: climbing facilities as in Tymon Park while welcome for teenagers and older are not suitable for adult/elderly exercise). Meath County Council opened such a facility very recently.
That an EIS be conducted prior to and so as to inform the final design of the Green Pedestrian and Cycle Way along the Grand Canal.
That the Manager would present a detailed report for discussion on the consequences of Halloween 2007 for South Dublin in terms of issues for the Parks and Landscapes Services Division, the Environmental Department, the Community Department, the Housing Department, including associated costs, and information and data available from the Emergency Services including the Gardaí, Fire Services, Ambulance Services etc.
That this Council will prepare and adopt a policy and guidelines on adaptation measures to combat anticipated effects of climate change in the County, dealing with such matters as water supply, flood plains, open spaces, and that such a Climate Change Adaptation Policy and Guidelines be included in the draft of the next County Development Plan.
