MOTION NO. 7
MOTION: Councillor D. Keating
That this Council acknowledges the benefit of Visual Design Statements as being valuable in collating the views of the local community in terms of the future planning aspirations of the village or area involved, and would the Manager report on how such a Visual Design Statement will influence future planning decisions in that village or area.
REPORT:
South Dublin County Council together with the Heritage Council has just produced and launched a Village Design Statement (VDS) for Lucan Village. The Lucan VDS has generally been seen as being valuable in collating the views of the local community in terms of the future planning aspirations of the village.
While the Design Statement is a non-statutory document, it is intended as supplementary guidance that will be used with South Dublin County Council’s County Development Plan, 2004 -2010 when development proposals are being considered. It will also serve as an input into the review of the County Development Plan, which will commence in December 2008.
