Mot (3)

Councillor R. Mannion

The playground in Whitechurch has been a huge asset for the area. It is my understanding that at the time of development, a relatively small area was identified as a trial to ensure it did not attract anti-social behaviour etc. and could be easily well maintained. As the area has not experienced any negative outcomes from the introduction of the playground, I would like to request review and expansion of the equipment available and size of area being utilised for recreation to further enhance the existing amenity.

Mot (4)
Submitted by:
Councillor J. Sinnott
Responsibility:
Leo Magee

To ask The Manager to assist in relation to a Tree Inspection affecting a specific property: Following advice to me in an official rep regarding the property in Orwell Park (Address Provided), the resident has had difficulty trying to find an appropriate professional. Can SDCC recommend a company who carries out this work?

That the Council use its powers under the Derelict Sites Act to tackle the continued dereliction of Ballyroan House Lodge, off Ballyboden Road, Dublin 16. It appears that this site has been on the register of derelict sites since 2014 and continues to fall into further disrepair. It is unclear whether any levies on the site have been collected by the Council. At this point I would call on the Council to consider using its powers to acquire the site and put it into public use.

Mot (8)
Submitted by:
Councillor E. Murphy
Responsibility:
Sharon Conroy

To ask the Chief Executive to outline an action plan to deal with the anti-social behaviour (fires, illegal dumping and fireworks) along Daletree Drive in the area between Daletree and Stocking Wood.

Mot (9)
Submitted by:
Councillor J. Sinnott
Responsibility:

This committee notes with concern the poor state of the following laneways - Top of Glendoo Close / Tonduff Close / Corrig Close in Dublin 12. The area is covered in weeds, graffiti and litter. This Committee calls on the Council to take immediate action to improve the area.

Mot (10)
Submitted by:
Councillor Y. Collins

That this Council removes the graffiti from the wall at Spider Hill at or near the back of Tournville Lodge per photo furnished and please advise as to measures which may be taken to prevent further graffiti at this location

Mot (11)
Submitted by:
Councillor J. Sinnott
Responsibility:

This Committee acknowledges the work and community service provided by Tidy Towns groups and voluntary litter picking groups across the area. This Committee notes a number of new groups have been formed and welcomes and supports their community service. In light of this growing movement, this committee proposes that a half day meeting or event for volunteers to come together to share best practice, network and to promote this work across Rathfarnham, Templeogue, Firhouse and Bohernabreena be arranged and to develop a sense of communities coming together.

Transportation

Questions

Qu (6)
Submitted by:
Councillor C Ahern
Responsibility:

Can Council management please confirm when pedestrian crossings at the Cypress Grove / Templeville Road roundabout will be installed? It's quite unsafe and difficult to cross there currently and is becoming a no-go area for walkers.

Qu (7)
Submitted by:
Councillor R. Mannion
Responsibility:
Mary Maguire

A number of signs in the area appear to have inaccurate translations in Irish e.g. Hermitage estate has differing translations on a number of road signs throughout the estate (either díthreabh which is the correct translation or Eirmeatáiste which is an Anglicisation of the name, and used in Lucan Hermitage) and Whitechurch has Séipéal Bán (which means Whitechapel) rather than An Teampall Geal on the stone at the entrance of the estate. Can I clarify how translations are decided and who would be responsible for recitfying these issues please?

Qu (8)

That the Council resurface and install footpaths along the length of Washington Lane, Rathfarnham, and provide upgraded public lighting. Over the years Washington Lane has become a very busy road with increased school and general traffic including cars, bikes and pedestrians using it daily and improvements are required to enhance public safety for children and adults.
