MOTION NO.3
MOTION: Councillor R. Mannion
The playground in Whitechurch has been a huge asset for the area. It is my understanding that at the time of development, a relatively small area was identified as a trial to ensure it did not attract anti-social behaviour etc. and could be easily well maintained. As the area has not experienced any negative outcomes from the introduction of the playground, I would like to request review and expansion of the equipment available and size of area being utilised for recreation to further enhance the existing amenity.
REPORT:
That understanding is not accurate. Residents agreed a certain number of features and these were provided. There was no commitment to come back to enlarge the playspace and there was never a budget allocated for this. It is intended to put in some additional equipment more suitable for older children and teenagers as part of the teenspace programme. This will be provided in 2025.
