MOTION: Councillor J. Sinnott

To as the manager to assist in relation to a Tree Inspection affecting a specific property: Following advice to me in an official rep regarding the property at (Address Provided), the resident has had difficulty trying to find an appropriate professional. Can SDCC recommend a company who carries out this work?

REPORT:

Regrettably the Council is not in a position to recommend an engineering practice for the carrying out of structural surveys on private property.  The Council from time to time requires the services of such a practice and when this arises a competitive tendering process is undertaken to engage someone. 

Information on engineering practices providing structural surveying services can be obtained from Engineers Ireland, the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland or from the Institution of Structural Engineers.  The Society of Chartered Surveyors of Ireland may also be able to provide information on practices that provide such a surveying service.
