"That this Committee considers it most unsatisfactory that, as the law stands, a householder with a foul sewer manhole in his/her property is responsible for getting the households who “feed” into the same service to contribute to the (now very considerable) costs of having the system unblocked when sewerage backs up and perhaps overflows onto the property. In the absence of Government action (I have had a number of motions passed writing to successive Ministers without success) this Committee now calls on Management to bring forward a report on the matter and suggestions on how the present system can be improved and updated so that it removes the burden (of collecting the maintenance costs) from individuals."
Roads
Questions
"To ask the Manager to outline the progress of the safety measures to address the HGV concerns on the Newcastle Road in the vicinity of the schools and will the Manager outline the measures planned that are currently outstanding?"
"To ask the Manager for a detailed update on my previous repeated requests for improvements to the footpath at Lucan Road between Esker Lane and Ballydowd Grove?"
"To ask the Manager responsible when it is intended to adjust the Kennelsfort Rd/Cold Cut junction and to synchronise the traffic lights at this junction with Cloverhill junction and Liffey Valley Junction so as to give a better traffic flow on Kennelsfort Rd Upper (as promised would be done once the N4 upgrade was completed) and which I have requested now on a number of occasions?"
"To ask the Manager for a report on surface water drainage problems that have recently been experienced in Sarsfield Park Estate, Lucan, and to advise if the problems are associated with damaged gullies or are occuring as a result of recent footpath works which included dishing between renewed footpaths and the roadway?"
"To ask the Manager for an updated report on footpath repair works which have been, or are soon due to be, carried out in and around Lucan Village?"
"To ask the Manager what steps the Council is taking to improve the amenity value of the piece of waste ground behind the Shell Petrol Station on the "Old Lucan Road " Palmerston, and if she will make a statement on the matter?"

"That this Committee calls on the Manager to report on the work due to take place on what is known as the Old Lucan Road Palmerstown in 2012 and to include the upgrading of this cul de sac with its footpaths in the estimates for 2013. The people were promised during the building of and upgrading of the M50 and M50 Bridge that this road would be restored but this has never happened to a satisfactory degree."
"That this Area Committee requests the Manager to implement a programme to improve the visual attractiveness and ongoing maintenance of the general vicinity of both the Ballydowd (Woodies) and Newcastle Interchanges on the N4, including along the ‘on’ and ‘off’ ramps and in particular focussing on areas of landscaping; and to further request that interested local groups be directly consulted with as part of this work, including Lucan Tidy Towns, Hermitage Park Residents Association and the Hillcrest Environmental Group."

"That the Manager will present a report on the progress of taking in charge of the slip roads at Junction 3 of the N4."
"That the Manager provide an additional traffic lane on the exit from the Cemetery/Shopping Centre/Residential junction with Kennelsfort Road. By removing portion of the grass verges it would be possible to give some relief to traffic which I have requested now a considerable number of times and the problem has not gone away but has got worse."
"That this Committee, noting the previous motions to both the December 2010 and November 2011 meetings of this Committee, again requests the Manager to create new dedicated filter lanes on both Willsbrook and Ballyowen Roads at their approach to the Grange Castle Road (Outer Ring Road) signalised junctions; and further declares our opposition to any works which would result in a reduction of the number of vehicles which can get through this junction, from Willsbrook and Ballyowen Roads, during green-lights."
