QUESTION NO. 7
QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
"To ask the Manager what steps the Council is taking to improve the amenity value of the piece of waste ground behind the Shell Petrol Station on the "Old Lucan Road " Palmerston, and if she will make a statement on the matter?"
REPLY:
The area behind the Shell Garage is part of the old Lucan Road which was closed to traffic as part of the construction of the Palmerstown Bypass. There is a footpath which provides a pedestrian access to Stewarts Hospital. This footpath is in reasonable condition. The roadway is also considered to be in reasonable condition in view of it's status as a disused section of roadway. In addition this area is part of the proposed N4 cycle access route linking the cycle network on the western side of the M50 via Palmerstown village to the cycle way in Dublin City Council area at Chapelizod. This route is currently being examined in consultation with the NTA.
