This Committee, concerned at the ongoing cuts to Community Development Projects in this catchment area, calls on the Manager to give a report outlining the work carried out by these projects, how many face closure, the staff numbers involved, the project users and groups that will be directly impacted on as a result of this Governments action.

That this Committee, concerned about the proposed cuts in Community projects such as the West Tallaght Resource Centre and all projects that receive funding through these projects, calls on the Manager to report on the projected loss of provision of Community services in the Tallaght area as a result of these cuts.

That this Committee deplores the lack of a fit for purpose CCTV system in the RAPID areas of Tallaght two years and three months after it has been rubber stamped by South Dublin's Joint Policing Committee and calls on Garda management to ensure the facts behind this delay are made available to the communities of Brookfield, Fettercairn, Jobstown and Killinarden who have been waiting for this system to fill in the major gaps in policing provision in their areas.

This Council Committee calls on the Manager in view of the concern regarding water preservation  to include in the Social Credit Scheme the promotion of water preservation in communities and schools throughout the County.

That this Committee acknowledges both the work carried out by Council staff with regard to water supply problems experienced since the beginning of 2010, and the inconvenience and, in some cases, hardship experienced by residents in this area due to these issues. This Committee requests that, in the interests of future planning and information, the Manager provide a report on the affect of the water shortages broken down by area, showing which estates have suffered the most significant problems.

This Committee, concerned at the noise pollution thought to be coming from smokers and others at the Plaza Hotel and the effect this is clearly having on local residents in Westpark Estate particularly at weekends, calls on the Manager to investigate the noise levels with a view to taking action possibly with other agencies to alleviate this issue.

That the Manager reports on efforts to date to ensure that Kelland Homes pay attention to the upkeep of their properties in the Sundale Estate and that this Committee considers requesting IBAL to include this area in its regular surveys of Tallaght.

This Committee, concerned at the drop in young people, residents, and other groups using the can recycling facility based in Killinarden Community Centre, and the financial cost for the rent of such machines and the reduction of any substantial reward for users, agrees to call on the Manager to investigate new ways of encouraging the active use of this and other similar type schemes that are in the long term  interest of the wider community and those they are based in, and agrees to write to the Minister for Environment expressing our concern at potential collapse of this type of reduction initiative and calls for more imaginative schemes to be introduced and funded in the near future.

That the Manager indicates how the matter of regular cleansing on National roads in Tallaght such as the N81 will be addressed in a sustainable way going forward and if current legislation and regulations are preventing the proper cleansing and upkeep of these road medians and margins, that this Committee requests that a review is carried out by the Transportation SPC with a view to influencing a change in legislation to allow a realistic approach to this issue.

This Council Committee calls on the Manager to investigate the possibility of conducting and engaging in an audit of existing safety and other measures in conjunction with other interested state agencies, looking at the use of warning and exit systems, the regular use of  fire drills and other fire safety awareness information for residents living  in new and older tenant properties,with a view to establish and identify potential future problems and weaknesses, and to facilitate and encourage greater overall fire safety awareness.

That the Manager explores the possibility of sharing landlord information with Gardai in the event of a landlord neglecting his responsibilities under the Private Residential Tenancies Act in terms of Anti-social tenants - this information is currently available to the Council in relation to landlords who are tax compliant and pay their NPPR, that this initially begins as a pilot project to be rolled out in the Tallaght area.
