MOTION NO. 10

MOTION: Councillor M. Corr

That the Manager reports on efforts to date to ensure that Kelland Homes pay attention to the upkeep of their properties in the Sundale Estate and that this Committee considers requesting IBAL to include this area in its regular surveys of Tallaght.

REPORT:

As previously reported, one notice has recently been issued to the shopping centre owners which resulted in improvements in the condition of the vicinity of the shopping centre and Anti-Litter Wardens have reported that the centre provides a daily cleansing service from 7.30 a.m. which has been personally observed by the Wardens.  The shopping centre onwners/occupiers are generally in compliance with their obligations under the Litter pollution Act but there but there are wider issues relating to the condition of the area including schoolchildren littering, illegal dumping and anti-social behaviour related damage which need to be addressed in tandem continued monitoring of the shopping centre's responsibilities.

The IBAL Anti Litter League surveys are, by their nature, carried out in varying areas throughout the whole area of Tallaght and, as such, the area in question is included in their remit.
