QUESTION NO. 7

QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr

"To ask the Manager to provide this Committee with available details of any reports to the Council of stone/object throwing at the windows of Council tenant's houses in the Tallaght area over the past six months and details of how the Council is dealing with this crime that appears to have seriously escalated recently?"

REPLY:

There were 27 incidents of vandalism reported to the Anti Social unit for the Tallaght area during the period July to December 2009.  The exact same number were reported in the first 6 months of that year but it should be noted that the total complaints  about anti-social behaviour for the Tallaght area ,received for the period July to December 2009 was 259 down from 372 in the first 6 months of the year.

The acts of vandalism ranged  from graffitti, damage to property, breaking windows etc.  The Council investigates every complaint in a fair, impartial and objective way.A total of  1,223 actions were taken in that 6 month period in respect of the 259 complaints received.
