"To ask the Manager to report on the Road Sweeping contract with a view to ascertaining (a) cost (b) benefits (c) results after cleaning are minimal. To state what supervision/analysis/inspection has been carried out in the past two years? and current inspection?  Taking into consideration many roads virtually remain unchanged following visit of sweeper – weeds still on road; litter still on pavements; etc. etc. and to discuss if other options have been explored? To state (d) who/what department is responsible for cleaning up litter from pavements/bushes/hedges? (e) to state what department is responsible for cleaning weeds from roadside and from pavements and (f) to outline the ‘plan’ and frequency?"

"That this Committee discusses with the aid of an up to date report on the proposals for an upgrade for the bottle bank on Grange Road – it is an unsightly mess. Obviously negotiations with the OPW  have failed?  This problem is ongoing for 7 years. I had the following response on 17th Nov 2006: “With regard to the recycling unit at the corner of Grange Road and St Enda’s Park, a drawing is being prepared at present to upgrade this area. A meeting will be arranged with the residents when this is complete”

Pedestrians crossing the road to access the Bus stop at the start of the Firhouse road find it unsafe to cross. To access the Bus stop there is no pedestrian light to do so other than the Knocklyon junction?"

"That this Committee recommends that the Pillars at Glenlyon Estate be painted - they have been destroyed following work on QBC - the cost of a ltr. of paint would demonstrate that this Council have some consideration for those people who have 'endured' major disruption during those major roads works. "That the Manager ensure that the request for tree removal by residents of Idrone Close over the last few years be finally completed in the forthcoming tree pruing/surgery season as the Residents locally all agree on the need for this and were sorely disappointed that the work was not completed last season.  A petition/signed letter to this effect has been sent to the Council."

"That the Manager have the Parks Department resolve the problems with the surrounding area of the 14th Ballyroan Scout Group at Marian Road to include.

  1. Remove the second layer of trees nearest the surrounding wall at the park at Marian Road,
  2. Thin back the first layer of trees to allow line of sight to the perimeter wall of the Scout Hall to stop anti social behaviour.
  3. Rebuild the wall 22 meters long damaged by the tree roots in the park. This was promised by Parks Department over four years ago.
  4. Replace the rear broken fence 6meters long to stop intrusion onto the Scout Hall area. "
