QUESTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"To ask the Manager to outline the timeline for proceeding with the Ballyroan Library scheme?"

REPLY:

The Libraries Department are currently awaiting the formal letter from the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government confirming the availability of funding for the redevelopment of Ballyroan Library. Quantity surveyors from the DOEHLG are currently examining the projected costs of the redevelopment and their response is imminent.

The provisional timeline for the project anticipates that builders will be on site in the summer of 2011 with a completion date of autumn 2012. Replacement Library services will be offered to local communities through Whitechurch Library, mobile libraries and if required, additional local venues. On receipt of the formal offer of funding from the DOEHLG a detailed project plan with dates and actions will be made available to all Members.
