Cathaoirleach's Business

"That the Manager contacts Dublin Bus so that they may respond to the unresolved issues regarding the 15b bus route.

  • A new bus shelter at the new terminus in Whitechurch estate.
  • Removal of the old bus shelter at the old terminus at Anne Devlin Park.
  • Possibility of new bus shelter at the bus stop at Rosemount shopping centre Marian Road.
  • What measures has Dublin Bus made to replace the broken bus link between Whitechurch estate and Rathfarnham Village?"
Mot (5)
Submitted by:
Councillor J. Lahart

"That the Committee agress that each roundabout in the area ought to have a name to facilitate visitors seeking directions and to build a sense of community identity and to proceed with such a scheme without delay and without the need of a consultants."

Mot (6)
Submitted by:
Councillor M. Ardagh
Responsibility:
Denis Ryan

"That the Manager provide the resources in the upcoming estimates to provide a pedestrian crossing on Limekiln Lane, Greenhills to facilitate the school going children and the many elderly residents crossing over and back to the school and church so that they can cross in safety."

Mot (7)
Submitted by:
Councillor C. Brophy
Responsibility:
Tony O Grady

"That the Manager carry out repairs to the footpath at Willington Lane at its junction with Willington roundabout directly behind Orwell Park Glade.  This footpath is prone to flooding and as part of such repairs that a heavy pruning be carried out on the overgrown brambles and bushes to the side of the footpath which force pedestrians to walk on the grass at times of heavy rain."

Mot (8)
Submitted by:
Sen. C. Keane
Responsibility:
John McLoughlin

"That this committee recommends that the long awaited funding for the realignment of the Knocklyon Road be made available immediately – as this project is on the books of SDCC for the past 30 odd years, and to the best of my knowledge & research no other project in the COUNTY has such a long history of neglect – or long-fingering. To acknowledge that genuine expectations were fulfilled in the execution of the part 8 procedure in 2008 after many years of waiting and that this committee recommends there is no way that this project can be delayed any longer. That a current report be made available at this meeting."

Mot (9)
Submitted by:
Councillor E. Walsh
Responsibility:
Denis Ryan

"That this Committee, recognising the impending upgrade of the Greenhills Road, supports the provision of a temporary pedestrian crossing on the Greenhills Road at the Lidl supermarket due to the high numbers of pedestrians crossing in the area and the danger associated with this bend."

Mot (10)
Submitted by:
Councillor J. Lahart
Responsibility:
Jimmy Kelly

"That the Manager present a report on what rules apply to trading on footpaths outside premises, specifically the Get Fresh shop at Rosemount Centre, Ballyroan.   The trader does not own the footpath, is it legal for the trader to utilise it."

Mot (11)
Submitted by:
Councillor M. Ardagh
Responsibility:
Tony O Grady

"That the Manager carry out an inspection of the laneway between Cherryfield Road and St. Peter's Road.  The most critical point is at the bend at the lower end where a number of large potholes are causing serious flooding.  This laneway is extensively used by local residents as a short-cut to the shops.  The ongoing heavy rainfall has effectively rendered this route impassable at times for pedestrians and particularly dangerous at night-time.  To ensure the safety of residents could you please repair the surface of this laneway."

Mot (12)
Submitted by:
Councillor C. Brophy
Responsibility:
Tony O Grady

"That the Manager carry out a survey at the Wainsfort roundabout of all driveway paths that directly enter the roundabout and replace kerbstones which have been damaged or removed due to previous work carried out on this roundabout."

Mot (13)
Submitted by:
Sen. C. Keane
Responsibility:
Margaret Branyan

"That this committee recommends that a lollipop person be appointed immediately for the Whitechurch Road adjacent to Willbrook – pedestrian lights have been recommended in the recent consultants report – therefore in the interim logic would suggest/ & also a child being knocked down there recently - that a lollipop is very necessary in the interim period. It is acknowledged that it will take time to get the pedestrian lights/traffic calming etc. on the ground following the part 8 procedure currently underway. We are encouraging children to walk to school for health reasons not to mention traffic congestion; reduction of C02; and reaching our Kyoto target. Parents are currently driving their children short distances for safety reasons – 4 good reasons for facilitating this request – the most important being the safety of the children."

"That this Committee notes Application SD08A/0655, to extend the off-licence and build a take away at the site of the Traders Pub in Greenhills and that the provision of a pub, off-licence, take-away and bookmakers only at this site is in stark contrast to the vital community services needed in a neighbourhood centre for Greenhills."

"That the Manager request the developer of the McHugh's site in Greenhills to replace the present hoarding around the site with a boundary fence that is more appropriate i.e. railings and a stub wall which would improve the appearance of the site.  Also, that the Manager lease the McHugh's site from the developer until he is ready to proceed with the development, on a short term basis, to provide for community facilities in the area, such as a park and ride for commuters, which could also be used by people using Tymon and Greenhills Parks, as a sports training area for the clubs in the area, as a playground area or as a possible site for a country market and will he examine the possible interim usage of the site for the benefit of the community as it is unfair that a community that has enjoyed the facility of a shopping centre and local services in the past should now be left without facilities of any sort for possibly the next five years."

Mot (21)
Submitted by:
Councillor C. Brophy
Responsibility:
John Browne

"That the Manager provide a statement in relation to the type, size and quality of the wall which is required to be provided at the McHughs site, St James Road, as a result of the site's designation as a derelict site.  Can the Manager also indicate the length of time that the Council must wait after the designation of a derelict site before it can carry out the required work to improve the site and charge the owner for such work in the event of the site owner failing to complete the work."

Mot (22)
Submitted by:
Sen. C. Keane
Responsibility:

"That this committee agrees that the laneway directly to the rear of 99 Limekiln Road be disposed of by SDCC and incorporated into the rear garden of said house –I have been informed that adjoining neighbours have already been surveyed by SDCC house to house on this issue and have secured agreement from adjacent neighbours on this road. An application has already been made for this two years ago and the public right of way has already been extinguished on this laneway."

Mot (23)
Submitted by:
Councillor M. Ardagh
Responsibility:
John Browne

"That the Manager consider the option of establishing a Public/Private Partnership to develop the McHugh Site in Greenhills to provide facilities for the local community on the site."
