QUESTION: Councillor M. Ardagh

"To ask the Manager to examine the dangerous parking of buses adjacent to the Bus Bay at Orwell and to consult with Dublin Bus and the Residents Associaiton in relation to the matter?"

REPLY:

We had a meeting on site (in April 2008) with Dublin Bus about this matter at which we discussed the following options:

  ----- Prohibit parking of buses by installing Double Yellow Lines

  ----- Dublin Bus to find an alternative location for buses to park

  ----  Dublin Bus to alert their bus drivers to minimise the parking of buses at this location

At the Traffic Management Meeting in May 2008, it was decided in the interim until a solution could be found, not to carry out any action that might result in the reduction of this bus service as would probably happen should buses be prevented from parking\queuing at this location. We have reminded Dublin Bus of this problem and we await their response.
