MOTION NO. 3
MOTION: Councillor C. Keane
"That this Committee discusses the provision of information re Statistics/information in the Terenure/Rathfarnham electoral area with a view to ascertaining (a) if the boundary constituency review maps are available as yet and if not when will they be made available? (b) if the numbers of houses in each area/road could be made available as well as the current situation where numbers on the electoral register only is given. This information I am sure is available in planning/statistics/ etc. etc. and that this be discussed with the aid of a current updated report on information currently available."
REPORT:
A) The Local Electoral Area Boundary Review maps which are available on P 64 of the Dublin & Cities Electoral Area Boundary Committee Report published in June 2008 do not have legal basis yet and will not have such basis until the Ministerial Order is made.
It is expected that the Ministerial Order will be made in the very near future but in its absence, in accordance with a directive issued by the DoEHLG, the 2009/2010 Register of Electors to be used for the local elections in 2009, is being prepared in accordance with the recommendations contained in the reports of the Boundary Committee and comprises the new Electoral Area of Rathfarnham The Draft Register will be published on 1st November 2008 and maps will be issued to the elected members along with their copies of the draft.
B) The Table attached outlines details of the number of houses in each of the Electoral Divisions within the county including the 9 Electoral Divisions comprising the new Rathfarnham Electoral Area ( Ballyboden, Edmonsdstown, Firhouse - Ballycullen, Firhouse - Knocklyon, Rathfarnham - Ballyroan, Rathfarnham -Butterfield, Rathfarnham - Hermitage, Rathfarnham - St Endas and Rathfarnham Village.
