To ask the Manager, what the Council's position is in relation to the publicised proposals by Dublin City Council to allow companies to tender for waste collection contracts throughout the Dublin region thus privatising the service which would have obvious negative repercussions as a result and can the Manager provide his/her interpretation of the relevant European legislation in terms of tendering being optional or mandatory?

To undertake this with a view to reducing the exposure to lead in the County -particularly to children as the neurotoxic effect is both cumulative and delayed, and to state what action could be undertaken.

That the Manager agrees to provide for a full discussion, which may involve a Special Meeting or Meetings, to discuss in detail the proposed development by Sandymark Construction, the purpose of which will be to ensure that should a Variation of the current County Development Plan be agreed by this Council to facilitate that proposed development, that all infrastructural elements as expressed in the proposed development, be legally binding to provide such a quality development that will be in the best interest of the proper and sustainable future development of the Newcastle area.

That the Manager agrees to progress the School Transportation Pilot Project as prepared and discussed at the Transportation Strategic Committee and that as part of this Pilot Project the Manager agrees to initiate a Consultation Process with Local School Committees to further gauge how this Pilot Project can be best effective in South Dublin and that this consultation process would be conducted in parallel with the concerted efforts to secure the necessary funding from the Government and any other such agencies.
