To ask the Chief Executive what are the plans for the land between the Boot Road and the Green Isle hotel, between the N7 and Green Isle Road?  Could a comprehensive report be presented on this area please.  It is in a terrible condition and is being constantly used by dumpers.  The once picturesque white fence is now broken and the beautiful cherry trees are badly in need of attention. Before the start of the current works this area presented a very pleasing entrance to Clondalkin village.   While it is appreciated that the NRA has responsibility to finish off this area, it is vital that SDCC has a comprehensive vision of how this area should be presented.  It is an important gateway to Clondalkin.  It will also presumably house the reinstated Veronica Guerin monument.  For these reasons, urgent consideration needs to be given  to how this area will be landscaped and finished.

To ask the Chief Executive to present a report on the state of the footpath on the canal side of the R134 from the Ninth Lock road to the M50 overpass. Several residents have complained that this footpath is being encroached on by the hedges along the canal on one side and the grass verge adjacent to the road.  This has resulted in the footpath being narrowed and dangerous for pedestrians.  There is also an issue of unevenness around the manhole cover 100 metres from LIDL.  It has been reported to me that there is a programme of works ongoing to improve this area.  Could I have an update on this please?

That this Committee requests the Chief Executive to present a report on the operation of the fix your street service and the extent to which it is used by residents of the Clondalkin area.  Could the following issues be addressed please.

1. How often has the fix your street service been used by residents in Clondalkin area?

2. How often has action been taken as a result of information entered on the fix your street service?

Residents have remarked that there is no feedback provided by the fix your street service.  This pertains to immediate feedback, when the user has inputted the query.  Users have commented that it is difficult to know if their query has been received.

The second issue pertains to feedback on what is being done to address the issue inputted into the system.  Users say there is no feedback as to whether the street in question is to be actually fixed!

Could the report also deal with the issue of both types of feedback please.

Questions

Qu (14)

Councillor B. Bonner

To ask the Chief Executive that the footpath on the Fonthill Road between the Boot Road Junction and Caldbeck Way be worked on by the Council in order to improve accessibility?  At the moment it is very narrow because of shrubs and plants encroaching upon it.  As there is a long barrier running the whole length of this path it is impossible at some points for two buggies to pass each other and it is almost a no go path for wheelchair bound people. There is a high concentration of older people in this part of Clondalkin, some of whom are wheelchair users.  This path is a vital link as it accesses shops and the Bank and as there is no path on the other side of the road, this path must be made accessible by undertaking a major pruning job on the shrubbery, and perhaps concreting some of the bed in which the shrubs are planted,.  This issue has been brought to the area committee several times before with no action taken.
