MOTION NO. 16

MOTION: Councillor E. Ó Broin

That this Committee agrees that the Chief Executive present a report for discussion at the Committee on the proposal received by the Council for a Community Environmental Support Initiative for St Cuthberts Park by the South West Community Safety Forum in 2013/14 detailing the purpose of the project and the reasons why the Council did not take up the proposal. Furthermore this Committee agrees that the Council should actively reconsider this proposal.

REPORT:

The proposal submitted by the South West Community Safety Forum has been considered. However as presently constituted there are a number of difficulties which are unlikely to be overcome in the short to medium term.

The Council's Public Realm and Community Services Departments will further examine the matter in the context of the roll out of the Gateway Initiative with a view to seeking to commence delivery of the objectives of the proposal.
