"That this committee agrees that given the Historical value of the Tower at Old Tower Crescent that a Sign be erected and the History of the Tower be displayed as outlined below 

Description: Situated on flat ground in the middle of a housing estate. The W corner turret is all that survives of this towerhouse. It rises to two storeys. Built of roughly coursed masonry with dressed quoins. There is a lintelled entrance on E side at ground level and first floor (int. dims. L 3.4m; Wth 3m). The S side of the tower is lit by plain square opes. According to the Exchequer Inquisitions for County Dublin, it was agreed in 1601 that Alderman Patrick Browne and his wife should build a castle on the lands of Irishtown (Ball 1906, 87). This building is marked on the Down Survey (1655-6) map. The Civil Survey 1654-55 describes this building as a habitable house (Simington 1945, 292). A drawing by Beranger dated 1772 shows a twin gabled towerhouse (Harbison 1998, 30-31). Compiled by: Geraldine Stout."

Structures such as 1) RIC Barracks, 2) Monastery Graveyard 3) St Brigid’s well etc, also Tidy Towns adjudicators noted ‘’The information panel at the tower itself is in a difficult position to read.’’

"That this committee agrees with Rathcoole Community Council in saying that the station in Rathcoole is understaffed and calls for more gardaí and patrols are needed to stem the number of burglaries and break-ins especially as we go into Christmas and the dark evenings and we ask that the Minister for Justice be written to and asked to urgently review this unacceptable situation."

"This Committee congratulates everyone who worked at the Oireachtas in Citywest this year.  Thousands came to Citywest on the Oireachtas weekend  to celebrate Irish music, language and dancing.  We recognise that the Council gave a lot of support to the festival.  We request that the Chief Executive writes to the Chair of the Oireachtas. Liam O'Maoladha to congratulate him and to say that we look forward to the Oireachtas coming back again to City West next year."

"Can the Chief Executive clarify whether take away premises can be prosecuted for boxes and wrappers which are clearly marked with their logo and emanating from their business being discarded by customers.  There is a particular problem with one pizza outlet *name and address supplied*  Customers discard the pizza boxes all around the village, but particularly along the Monastery Road.  The area adjacent to the Monastery Shopping centre is often very badly littered with these boxes.  This committee calls on the Chief Executive to request that this pizza shop organise a clean up of the surrounding area of its discarded boxes at close of business each evening."

"To ask the Chief Executive if there was a reduction in bonfire activity in the Clondalkin area over Hallowe'en?  The great efforts made by council staff to clear bonfire material all week in the area is noted and very much appreciated.  Staff worked right up to nighfall on Hallowe'en and many residents have asked me to convey their thanks. 

When can the bonfire remains be cleaned up?  In spite of the best efforts of our crews there were some very destructive bonfires.  The one outside the school at St Bernadette's damaged the greens and destroyed the beautiful trees which were planted by the council with the assistance of the children in the school."
