SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO.20
MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons
Cathaoirleach's Business
"That a report is brought to this committee on suitable place for a homeless Hostel / emergency accommodation in the Clondalkin area as a matter of urgency, this report include an estimate of how much it may cost to staff, and that an update is given on reported accommodation in Dublin city centre." (Reported to Billy Cooman by Cllr Timmons)
REPORT:
We have not identified a location for a similar hostel in the Clondalkin area but that we have €300K capital in the budget for same. However the costs of providing an emergency facility similar to that in Tallaght is mainly in the staffing and care costs which will need to be met by the DRHE and HSE.
We will continue to look for a suitable location or property throughout the County and will keep the ACM briefed
In relation to the complaint in respect of the standard of accommodation available for homeless in the city we have had confirmation that the complaints has been investigated and remedial action taken. The DRHE have confirmed that they have a process in place whereby complaints of this nature are immediately investigated and action taken to remedy any issues identified.
