MOTION NO. 23
MOTION: Councillor E. Ó Broin
"This Committee agrees that the Council should organise a night time soccer league in Balgaddy as a feeder to the larger North Clondalkin night time sports league."
REPORT:
The Council have undertaken a number of soccer initiatives in Balgaddy for the young people of the area. The most recent examples for young people include:
- Drop in programmes on the MUGA
- 'Show Racism The Red Card' programme during the October mid term school break
The Council's Development Officer continues to meet with residents from the Balgaddy area to examine what additional assistance he can give to the area and as always the Council will endeavour to increase its support from within the available resources. It is not however possible to meet the terms of the motion from within existing resources.
As Members are aware, young people from the area will have the opportunity to participate in our Late Night League programme, based in either Weston Hockey Club or Collinstown Sports Complex, during the month of November / December on Friday & Saturday evenings respectively. The Council will also continue in conjunction with the F.A.I. Development Officers to provide additional assistance to the local community.
The Winter Late Night League Programme will run as follows:
We will have 4 venues, Clondalkin Village, Collinstown, Lucan & Tallaght – dates as follows:
- 13th & 14th November
- 20th & 21st November
- 27th & 28th November
- 4th & 5th of December
