" To ask the Chief Executive to provide an update regarding the additional signs that are to be put in place on Adamstown Road and amend the incorrect signs coming off the N4 (Newcastle road state Monday-Friday and slip road states Monday- Saturday ) and consider replacing them with a more effective signs i.e. with flashing lights, similar to the speed indicator signs installed in Lucan, to highlight the restricted area to HGV drivers and help eliminate/reduce the number of HGVs that are breaking the restriction?"

REPLY:The signs relating to the weight restriction on Newcastle road will be reviewed and outstanding corrections required will be made as soon as possible. CCTV is in place to monitor traffic along Newcastle Road and can be assessed to determine correct observance of the HGV restriction.

"That this Committee recognising that Kennelsfort Road Upper and the roads between Kennelsfort Road Upper and the R148 are already carrying excessive levels of motorised traffic, mainly but not solely commuter traffic and increasingly Liffey Valley Town Centre Traffic (which will increase when the expansion of the Liffey Valley Town Centre takes place) especially at peak times leading to serious congestion; that these roads already suffer from excessive attendant noise and air pollution and that these roads pose an unacceptable level of safety hazards for residents, pedestrians and cyclists in what is a priora a residential area, hereby calls on the CEO to restrict for access only Heavy Goods Vehicles (C) and Heavy (medium) Goods Vehicles (C1 or C!+E) and permit only, private cars and small vans of less than 3.5 tonne carrying capacity and Public Vehicles on these roads."

"That this Council further examines schools which don’t currently have a traffic warden in place to and to provide the necessary safety measures where it is deemed inadequate.

These schools include:

1          St. John The Evangelist National School

2          Adamstown Castle

These two schools are located close to each other. Immediate attention to be considered as follows:

The existing signs only face one way. Additional signs should be installed in both directions. The existing yellow road markings need to be re painted. Request that the grey railings directly outside the school entrance are painted yellow and black to highlight that it is school safety zone. The damaged pathway/cycle way outside staff car should be repaired.
