QUESTION NO. 12
QUESTION: Councillor D. O'Brien
"That the Chief Executive for a report on the work that was done on Manor Road in Palmerstown. Will any parking places be lost when the work is complete and what was the cost for the project.
REPLY:
The works at Manor Road consist of :
Better arrangement of parking
The number of parking spaces in the area is increased by 2. Manor Road is a wide road, illegal parking including “double parking” was a major problem, cars parked at the official parking spaces outside the shops were always blocked and could not move out. The new arrangement, particularly at the west end, will resolve this problem. 3 new official parking spaces are provided outside the surgery.
Provision of 1 additional accessible parking space
The existing accessible parking outside the west end (the quiet end, the last 3 shops are vacant) has been moved to the middle of the busy end of shops.
1 additional accessible parking is provided outside the pharmacy, this brings the number to meet the requirement of the guidelines.
Provision of new amenity area with new pavement and trees
The trees will be planted in the end of October which would be the suitable season.
Public lighting upgrade
The 2 existing lighting poles will be replaced with 3 new high spec lights and poles.
Installation of Double Yellow Lines
Installation of Double Yellow Lines and parking enforcement will be brought in.
The cost of the project is €55,000 including VAT.
