There is a huge demand for a pedestrian gap to be opened which would allow access for residents from Ashwood / Alpine and the greater Bawnogue area onto the fonthill road at the Dunawley junction.  That the Manager present a report on the feasability of this project, given that there now appears to be almost 100 per cent support for this to be done.

To ask the Manager if there is a survey being carried out on signage in the Clondalkin area?  A lot of the signage is in need of re painting or replacement and some needs to be cleaned and have graffiti removed.  Should signs in need of attention be reported on a case by case basis?

To ask the Manager to examine the area around the Spar shop and the HSE Clinic on the Nangor Road, Clondalkin with a view to assessing whether it is safe in terms of pedestrian access?  Residents have complained to me that the fact that there is no proper footpath at this location and that the street lighting is very poor renders this location unsafe for pedestrians.

To ask the Manager if the Council can assist residents in Saggart Village with the refurbishment of the community noticeboard which is to the right of the church in the village.  A local group would be prepared to take responsibility for the noticeboard but would need the council staff's skill and expertise to get the board updated.  They would like to have a map of Saggart on the noticeboard illustrating the many historic sites in the area.  They are very impressed with the material which is available on the council website in relation to historic villages and Saggart in particular.  Can they be assisted with this?

Mot (22)

That the Manager present a report on the issue of the emptying of the litter bins on the canal path greenway and the removal of graffiti  from the lamp standards and benches on the canal path.  This issue has not been addressed, despite it being raised at numerous meetings.  Bins are overflowing and are often set alight.  If the council has contracted out the emptying of these bins who overseas this contract and ensures that the work is being carried out.
